  • 1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 slice bread
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 recipe Homemade Giblet Gravy
  • 1/4 cup citrus or desired flavor marmalade
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange peel
  • 1 recipe Herbed Bread and Cherry Cranberry Stuffing [see below]

Herbed Bread and Cherry Cranberry Stuffing

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 medium onions, chopped
  • 6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme leaves, or 2 teaspoons dried thyme, crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 5 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 cup very thinly sliced fresh basil
  • 10 cups cubed bread
  • 1 cup dried cranberries, dried cherries,dried tomatoes (not oil-packed), and/or chopped smoked oysters
  • 1 cup pecan halves, coarsely chopped
  • 1 cups milk
